Photo exhibition Sylvie Bardet - Iceland 2007
Palais de Tokyo 14-17 January 2008 part of Semaine Communication

The stark beauty of Iceland’s landscape, as powerful and troubling as nature’s chaos, enthrals us, but in the midst of the world's environmental crisis, we cannot help but be reminded of its fragility.

Why Iceland ?

In a way, maybe a romanticized one, Iceland reminds us of how the world was before pollution. So chosing Iceland was no accident: Iceland’s glaciers are the most important in Europe and, in terms of energy, the country is almost self-sufficient. Thanks to its location on the mid-Atlantic Ridge and its geological youth, Iceland gives us a unique opportunity to observe primitive forces still in action, and while the savage beauty of its environment remains unchanged, it is a beacon of hope for the future of ecology in Europe.
